Experience Kneipp in Bad Faulenbach

More Than Cold Water

When most people think of Kneipp, they think of cold showers and water treading. But there is far more to it: Sebastian Kneipp, born in 1821 in the Allgäu, developed a holistic health concept based on five pillars – and his legacy is more relevant today than ever. Bad Faulenbach, the district of Füssen where our hotel is located, has been known as a health spa since the 19th century. The natural mineral springs, public Kneipp facilities by the stream and pure mountain air make this the ideal place to not just understand Kneipp's teachings, but to feel them.

The 5 Pillars of Kneipp

Sebastian Kneipp's health philosophy is based on five pillars – and you can experience each of them in Bad Faulenbach.

Water

Treading pools, arm baths and alternating showers strengthen the immune system. The public Kneipp facility at Faulenbacher stream is freely accessible.

Movement

Moderate exercise in nature – not competitive sport, but conscious walking. Trails start from the hotel into the Faulenbacher Valley, to the Lechfall or barefoot across the meadows at Mittersee.

Nutrition

Simple, regional, seasonal. Our breakfast buffet puts this into practice: local farm products, homemade jams, fresh bread. In the evening, Allgäu cuisine in Füssen's old town.

Medicinal Herbs

Arnica, yarrow and ribwort grow wild in the Faulenbacher Valley. Herbal infusions in the sauna, Allgäu herbal teas at the fireplace bar – herbs are everywhere.

Life Balance

Inner balance and conscious disconnection. Bad Faulenbach was made for this – no through traffic, no noise. Just birdsong, babbling streams and morning silence.

Tips for Your Kneipp Experience

How to get the most out of the Kneipp facilities:

  • Between 8 and 10 am you often have the Kneipp facility to yourself. The water is fresh, the air cool – ideal for circulation.

  • After water treading, just wipe the water off and put on warm socks. The towel is for your arms. The stimulus of the cold water works best this way.

  • Kneipp recommended daily barefoot walking in the morning dew. The meadows around Mittersee are perfect for this – soft ground, dewy, no stones.

  • The Kneipp facility is accessible all year. In winter, water treading is particularly effective – the temperature difference between body and water is greater and the stimulus stronger.

  • Kneipp facility in the morning, our wellness area from 3 pm: sauna, steam bath and Aktivarium perfectly complement the water applications.
