Hiking Tips for Mindful Walking

How to turn your hike into meditation:

  • Use the camera but turn off notifications. Nature doesn't need filters.

  • Morning hours are the quietest. The light is softest and you often have the paths to yourself.

  • Stop every 15 minutes, close your eyes and take 5 deep breaths. Listen to what nature tells you.

  • If the ground is suitable, take off your shoes for a few minutes. Feeling grass, earth, or gravel beneath your feet can create a deeper connection with nature.

  • Forest bathing originated in Japan, where it is known as Shinrin-Yoku. It is not about hiking or physical performance, but about experiencing the forest mindfully through all your senses – its sounds, scents, colours, and natural atmosphere.
