The castle Neuschwanstein

King Ludwig II. wanted to create an ideal of a medieval castle while still using the latest technology. His not a little humble role model: The Wartburg with its singers`hall. But the king was never able to see his dream complete. From here he was once taken to castle Berg on lake Starnberg, where he mysteriously died a short time later.

Castle Hohenschwangau

Hohenschwangau was the royal family`s popular summer residence. Little Ludwig spent many days of his childhood there. The parents, Maximilian II. and Marie, were both passionate hikers. A passion that Ludwig also took on. The interior of the castle in the neo-Gothic Style is decorated with murals depicting themes from medieval legends. The motive of the swan accompanies the visitor throug the entire complex.

A dream turned to stone rises above the castle park: Neuschwanstein castle. It started as a vision and remained unfinished. Nevertheless, it attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year. No wonder, as a king who was as sensitive  as he was mysterious found his refuge here where he could escape reality.
